We are pleased to announce that Dr. Yoshiko Takahashi has been appointed to serve as interim associate dean for the College of Social Sciences, beginning immediately. Dr. Takahashi, who has been at Fresno State since 2008, holds an M.S. in Criminal Justice and a Ph.D. in Public Policy. As a member of the Department of Criminology, she taught a variety of courses including victimology, family violence, juvenile delinquency, statistics, and research methods.

Dr. Takahashi has extensive experience in accreditation issues, having served as the Criminology assessment coordinator and the College of Social Sciences assessment coordinator. Recently, she wrote a report on Hmong American student success and, previously, she wrote a report on Southeast Asian American student success. She has served on a number of community, national and international boards, including the World Society of Victimology and Central California Asian Pacific Women. She is a previous president of Fresno State’s Asian Faculty/Staff Association.

Dr. Takahashi has an impeccable record as a scholar, having recently published a book with colleague Dr. Chadley James titled “Victimology and Victim Assistance: Advocacy, Intervention, and Restoration.” She is a respected and renowned scholar in her field.
